WHO: Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs

WHAT: "VA’s Development and Implementation of Policy Initiatives" 

WHEN: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018

Background: During this hearing the Subcommittee will discuss VA’s methods for developing and implementing policy changes and initiatives to better process claims. The Subcommittee will also talk about how VA develops training and guidance, modifies information technology, employs quality control standards, and prepares risk management strategies when implementing new initiatives and policy. Additionally, the Subcommittee will discuss the reasons for the challenges identified in three recent VA Office of Inspector General (OIG) Reports and the Department’s progress in implementing OIG’s recommendations. They will also address how the Department plans to approach programmatic changes in the future.
