Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), released the following statement after an internal Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) memorandum leaked, detailing discussions surrounding potential reductions in force (RIF) at VA:
“No one can argue with the fact that we want to see veterans, their families, and their survivors have access to the care and benefits they have earned with the most responsible, modern, and efficient VA budget and workforce. That mission has always been – and will continue to be – vitally important to me, both as a veteran and a taxpayer,” said Chairman Bost. “I have been in contact with Secretary Collins since this internal VA memo leaked regarding potential cuts to the VA workforce. I have questions about the impact these reductions and discussions could have on the delivery of services, especially following the implementation of the PACT Act. And from my position as Chairman, I will continue to ask questions and keep a close eye on how, or if, this plan evolves. I will work with our entire Republican conference, our colleagues in the Senate, and the administration to ultimately put veterans back at the core of VA’s mission.” |
