Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), the Ranking Member of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the House passed three bipartisan veterans’ bills this week:
"I am pleased to see that, before leaving for the holiday district work period, the House continued our efforts to support and serve our nation’s veterans well by passing bipartisan legislation that would ensure that the care provided to them from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) meets the highest quality and patient safety standards, protect jobs for thousands of blind and severely disabled veterans and other individuals across the country by preserving VA’s longest-standing partnerships with AbilityOne non-profit companies, and require the Government Accountability Office to conduct a study on disability and pension benefits for members of the National Guard and reserve. I hope that our colleagues in the Senate will consider these bills as soon as possible in the new year and that we will see them on the President’s desk in short order.”
The following bills were passed by the House:
H.R. 3530: The Improving Confidence in Veterans' Care Act
H.R. 4920: The VA Contracting Preference Consistency Act
H.R. 4183: The Identifying Barriers and Best Practices Study Act
