WHO: House Committee on Veterans' Affairs

WHAT: VA Electronic Health Record Modernization: The Beginning of the Beginning

BACKGROUND: During this hearing, the committee will discuss VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. This $15.8 billion, 10-year program to replace VA’s internally developed VistA health IT platform with Cerner’s commercial EHR software is the largest EHR transition undertaken in the country and one of the federal government’s largest IT projects.

WHAT: Hearing on: Hiring and Retaining Veterans for the Modern Day Workforce 

WHEN: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018

BACKGROUND: During this hearing, the subcommittee will discuss how businesses can continue to improve employment opportunities for veterans and their spouses. They will also discuss ways in which the private sector can improve the recruitment and retention of veterans, opportunities to better connect veterans to fitting careers earlier in their transition to civilian life, and current Federal Government programs that assist veterans in finding jobs.
