Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), released the following statement after President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to provide better care to our veterans, improve accountability for such care, and establish a National Center for Warrior Independence for homeless veterans.
“We know that there are areas where VA is falling short and services can be improved. Business as usual is not cutting it, and the American people – including America’s veterans – voted for change. Long wait times for earned benefits aren’t cutting it, a lack of resources for servicemembers to transition into civilian life and ending veteran homelessness isn’t cutting it, denied referrals for health care and mental health support aren’t cutting it. It’s time to change the way VA works, and President Trump has made clear that accountability is back in Washington,” said Chairman Bost. “With the release of President Trump’s action plan initiative for VA today, Secretary Collins, alongside House and Senate Republicans, will be able to work together to shepherd the agency into a new era that thinks outside the box for the veterans it serves.” |
