Chairman Bost Applauds Trump Administration’s Push to Streamline the Delivery of Benefits to Veterans’ Survivors

Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), released the following statement after Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins announced a three-pronged approach to eliminate barriers and streamline the process for how eligible survivors and dependents of deceased veterans and servicemembers apply for and receive VA benefits and services.

This announcement comes following targeted efforts by Chairman Bost, Rep. Ciscomani, Rep. Valadao, and House Republicans over the past few years to cut out the red tape created by the Biden administration through both hearings and legislation to improve the overall delivery of survivors’ services and benefits at VA, including in the Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) claims process.

“It should go without saying that the grieving surviving families of our nation’s veterans should not have to comb through piles of paperwork by themselves just to get the benefits their veteran loved ones have earned,” said Chairman Bost. “I want to thank the Trump administration for reversing the layers of bureaucracy that were put in place by the Biden administration to once again ensure that survivors are prioritized, that they have access to all available VA care and services, and that they have a more compassionate and streamlined process for receiving their benefits. We have to keep pushing VA forward to meet the needs of veterans and their families – today’s action by Secretary Collins is in lockstep with that mission.”
