Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-Ill.), released the following statement following a meeting with Mr. Darin Selnick, Senior Advisor to Department of Defense (DoD) Secretary Pete Hegseth and Performing the Duties of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness:
“Under my leadership, we have made clear that our nation’s fighting force has earned a seamless transition from active-duty to civilian life in exchange for their service in uniform. Congress invests millions of dollars each year on the Transition Assistance Program, but servicemembers, veterans, and their families continue to tell us that the program is missing the mark. With the Trump administration in place, it’s high time we change that to set these men and women up for success,” said Chairman Bost. “I was pleased to meet with Defense Secretary Hegseth’s advisor in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel & Readiness, Mr. Darin Selnick, today to discuss how we can get DoD and VA working better together to improve this transition. Servicemembers, veterans, and their families – no matter where they are stationed – deserve a program that works with them and gives them the right tools they need to realize the American Dream.” |
