Today, Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the Committee held the second Committee hearing in five months on veterans’ involvement in domestic violent extremism:
“Veterans are among the best of us, not the worst. Yet, for the second time in just a few short months, Democrats on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee spent hours today focusing on the very, very small number of them who participate in domestic violent extremism. Violence is always a serious problem. But, the vast majority of veterans are law-abiding, high-performing, and service-oriented,” said Ranking Member Bost. “Veterans deserve their advocates in Congress to focus on solving the many real problems they face, not just on those that suit partisan political purposes. Problems like ensuring veterans can get the care and benefits they’ve earned, find good jobs, afford skyrocketing costs at the grocery store and gas pump, and keep their families safe from rising crime coast-to-coast. Any one of those topics - or dozens more - would be a much better use of the Committee’s time moving forward.” |
