Ranking Member Roe Statement on House Passage of Bipartisan Veterans' Bills

Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), the Ranking Member of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after the House passed four bipartisan veterans’ bills:

"Tonight, the House continued our efforts to support and serve our nation’s veterans by passing bipartisan legislation to help homeless veterans with children find transitional housing, help veterans with disabilities access important information from VA’s website, and help preserve the legacies of those interred in veterans’ cemeteries. We also passed a bill to honor two heroes from Texas - First Class Alfred “Mac” Wilson and Staff Sergeant Marvin “Rex” Young, who both posthumously received the Medal of Honor for their heroic actions during the Vietnam War - by naming the VA community-based outpatient clinic in Odessa, Texas, after them. I hope that our colleagues in the Senate will quickly take up these bills and that President Trump will have the opportunity to sign them into law soon."

The following bills were passed by the House:

  • H.R. 95: The Homeless Veterans Families Act
  • H.R. 1199: The VA Website Accessibility Act of 2019
  • H.R. 2334: To designate the Department of Veterans Affairs community based outpatient clinic in Odessa, Texas, as the ‘‘Wilson and Young Medal of Honor VA Clinic”
  • H.R. 2385: To permit the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a grant program to conduct cemetery research and produce educational materials for the Veterans Legacy Program
