Ranking Member Roe Statement on House Passage of Legislation to Continue Vital Veterans’ Programs

Today, Ranking Member Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the House passed H.R 4285, the Department of Veterans Affairs Expiring Authorities Act of 2019:

“I applaud the House for passing this bipartisan legislation that will allow several important veterans’ programs to continue. This bill will allow VA to continue providing direct loans to buyers of VA-owned residences, serving veterans in the Philippines through the Manila Regional Office, supporting travel to and from Vet Centers, and helping homeless or at-risk veterans and their families get back on their feet. I hope the Senate will pass this legislation and President Trump will sign it into law soon, as we continue to deliver on our promises to the men and women that have served,” said Ranking Member Roe.

The Department of Veterans Affairs Expiring Authorities Act of 2019 would continue numerous programs at VA that were set to expire by the end of the fiscal or calendar year. A section-by-section summary of the bill can be found here.
