Ranking Member Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), congratulated the Honorable James Byrne for being sworn in yesterday as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

“I was thrilled to see the Senate confirm Mr. Byrne last week to serve as VA Deputy Secretary, and I congratulate him on being sworn in yesterday morning. Mr. Byrne displayed great leadership as the VA General Counsel and there is no doubt in my mind that he will continue to serve our nation’s heroes well as Deputy Secretary in his role as the Department’s Chief Operating Officer. I look forward to working with him to continue to deliver on the promises our country has made to the men and women in uniform, to include continuing to implement the VA MISSION Act.”

Mr. Byrne previously served as VA General Counsel and Acting Deputy Secretary.
