Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, released the following statement after  President Trump signed into law the Veterans Benefit and Transition Act of 2018 on December 31, 2018:

“I am thrilled that the Senate swiftly passed, and President Trump signed the Veterans Benefit and Transition Act. This piece of legislation included many provisions  to help our veterans. This bill does a range of important things, from increasing veterans’ benefits to improving the transition process. One provision in particular aids student veterans who use the Forever GI Bill by making schools ineligible for GI Bill payments if they placed penalties or burdens on students as a result of VA failing to pay GI Bill payments on time. This, and many of the other provisions in the law, bring us one step closer to fulfilling our promises to veterans."
