Washington, D.C. - Today, Chairman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after he was ratified by the House Republican Conference as Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs for the 116th Congress. “I am honored for the opportunity to continue to lead my fellow Republicans in the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs for the 116th Congress. This past Congress, we have had an incredible number of bipartisan achievements on behalf of our nation’s veterans. I look forward to continuing the bipartisan nature of this Committee, and to work with all members to ensure that veterans receive the benefits and support they deserve. I know that President Trump and Secretary Wilkie will also continue to work with Congress on behalf of America’s heroes. “I am grateful to the members of the Republican Steering Committee who recommended me for this leadership role. I also want to thank current Committee Members, as well as my staff, for their support and dedication to our nation’s veterans this past Congress. “I hold a special place in my heart for America’s servicemembers and it is a true honor to work on behalf of them every single day. I am excited to continue to advance legislation on behalf of these brave men and women during the 116th Congress and I remain wholeheartedly committed to ensuring our nation’s veterans receive nothing short of what they deserve.” |
