WHO: Subcommittee on Technology Modernization

WHAT: "The Role of the Interagency Program Office in VA Electronic Health Record Modernization."

BACKGROUND:  
During the hearing, the subcommittee will discuss the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program’s organization and governance, specifically the role of the Interagency Program Office. The Interagency Program Office was created by Congress in 2008 to act as the single point of accountability for the Departments of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) to develop and implement EHR systems, and to accelerate the exchange of health care information between the departments. Its focus has shifted over the years as the two departments pursued different strategies, with varying degrees of alignment. The subcommittee will also examine the Government Accountability Office’s numerous reports on the Interagency Program Office’s mission and performance.
