Chairman Roe Urges Leader Pelosi to Support Bipartisan, Bicameral Agreement on VA Reforms

Today, Chairman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) wrote Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) urging her to support the bipartisan, bicameral agreement on the future of VA community care, an expansion of VA’s caregiver program and an asset review to strengthen VA’s infrastructure. The proposal was endorsed by leading Veterans Service Organizations yesterday. The letter outlines the extensive work done in coordination with Veterans Service Organizations and other stakeholders. You can read the text of Chairman Roe’s letter here.

Here is an excerpt from Chairman Roe’s letter:

“I am proud that, as a result of these changes, the VSO letter to you yesterday affirmed that AIR will result in ‘a stronger, more focused, better aligned VA infrastructure designed to support the delivery of care to veterans when and where they need it.’ Our veterans deserve no less.

"Moving forward, I urge your support for the inclusion in this week’s omnibus spending bill of the bipartisan, bicameral deal that Chairman Isakson, Ranking Member Tester, and I have achieved. Our VSO partners agree that this deal represents an ‘historic opportunity’ that could ‘measurably improve the lives of millions of veterans today and in the future.’ I wholeheartedly agree with them and I hope you do too.”

Background:
