Today, Chairman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the hearing schedule for March 12– 16.

WHO: Subcommittee on Health

WHAT: VA Healthcare: Maximizing Resources in Puerto Rico

WHEN:

BACKGROUND: 
This field hearing will focus on the provision of Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ medical and mental health care programs, as well as VA care in the community programs in Puerto Rico. Additionally, the subcommittee will also explore lessons learned from coordination actions before and after a major disaster response, how that may inform greater integration of VA and DoD for health training and disaster relief purposes and what actions may be needed moving forward to improve VA’s partnerships with community providers in both urban and rural areas.

At this oversight hearing on the Department of Veterans Affairs’ fiscal year 2019 budget submission for medical programs and construction, the subcommittee will focus on the President’s budget request as it relates to medical and mental health care, community care, medical and prosthetic research, construction, infrastructure and homelessness.
