Chairman Roe Statement on DC VA Inspector General Report

Today, Chairman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after an Inspector General report revealed systemic problems and failed leadership at the DC VA Medical Center:

“The findings of this report are unacceptable. Our nation’s heroes deserve the very best care and treatment, and it’s clear from this Inspector General’s report that this facility, and the VISN that oversees it, failed them. There are still several significant issues that have not been resolved at the DC VAMC, so I am grateful to Secretary Shulkin for being proactive in addressing the problems at the DC facility and across the department. My team and I have been on the ground at the DC VA conducting diligent oversight over the past year, and we will continue working with Secretary Shulkin and the Inspector General to prevent problems like this from happening again.”

NOTE: On July 19, 2017, Chairman Roe made a surprise oversight visit to the DC VA Medical Center.
