Today, Chairman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the hearing schedule for January 15 – 19.

The following events are open to the press:

WHO: House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs

WHAT: The Denver Replacement Medical Center: Light at the End of the Tunnel?

WHEN: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018

BACKGROUND: This oversight hearing will examine the completion of construction and beginning of activation at the new Rocky Mountain Regional Medical Center in Aurora, Colo., including a March 2017 report and findings from Chairman Roe’s visit to the facility. 

WHO: Subcommittees on Health and Economic Opportunity

WHAT: Addressing Veteran Homelessness: Current Position; Future Course

WHEN: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018

BACKGROUND: This oversight hearing will focus on the efforts of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Labor (DOL) to reduce veteran homelessness. During this hearing, the subcommittees will assess the various programs VA, HUD and DOL use to provide homeless and at-risk veterans with housing, healthcare, supportive services and job training, search and placement assistance. The subcommittees will also examine the impact that VA’s recent actions to realign specific purpose funds to general purpose funds have had on funding for homeless programs.
