Today, Chairman Phil Roe, MD (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after President Donald J. Trump proclaimed September 15, 2017, as National POW/MIA Recognition Day:

“At every hearing of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, a chair draped with the official POW/MIA flag remains empty in honor of the men and women who put on the uniform to serve and never returned home. It is a constant reminder of a debt we will never be able to repay. I thank President Trump for proclaiming September 15th as National POW/MIA Recognition Day and for his unwavering commitment to America’s heroes, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”
