S. 3373: The Honoring Our PACT Act of 2022

The Honoring Our PACT Act, introduced by Rep. Mark Takano, expands VA healthcare and benefits to servicemembers and veterans – and their survivors – who were exposed to toxins, burn pits, and other harmful substances while serving overseas. Click here for more information. 

H.R. 1276: The VA VACCINE Act [Note: Enacted as the SAVE LIVES Act]

The VA VACCINE Act, introduced by Rep. Mark Takano and Rep. Mike Bost, would expand the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) ability to provide COVID-19 vaccines to veterans and their caregivers. Under this legislation, VA would be able to provide vaccines to all veterans—including those not currently enrolled in the VA healthcare system and those who have an income above a certain threshold—and caregivers who provide essential support to veterans. This bill would also expand VA's authority so that they can provide vaccines to veterans living abroad who rely on the Foreign Medical Program (including those who reside in the Philippines). H.R. 637: The Veterans Economic Recovery Act

The Veterans Economic Recovery Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, would connect eligible veterans, members of the National Guard, and Reservists who lost their job due to the COVID-19 pandemic with rapid retraining for in-demand jobs. Click here for more information. Read the bill here

H.R. 1510: The Veterans’ Camera Reporting (VCR) Act

The Veterans’ Camera Reporting (VCR) Act, introduced by Rep. David McKinley and Rep. Mike Bost, would require a V.A. report on cameras in V.A. medical centers following several high-profile cases where missing or malfunctioning cameras contributed to veteran harm or death. H.R. 2523: The Training in High-Demand Roles to Improve Veteran Employment Act (THRIVE Act)

The Training in High-Demand Roles to Improve Veteran Employment Act (THRIVE Act). introduced by Rep. Mike Levin and Rep. Mike Bost, would improve veterans’ job training and education benefits by amending a number of provisions under the American Rescue Plan Act and the Johnny Isakson and David P. H.R. 1448: The Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) Act

The Puppies Assisting Wounded Servicemembers (PAWS) Act, introduced by then-Rep. Steve Stivers, would help connect veterans with PTSD with service dogs and establish an innovative service dog training pilot program to help them heal. Click here for more information. Read the bill here.

H.R. 2441: The Sgt. Ketchum Rural Veterans Mental Health Act

The Sgt. Ketchum Rural Veterans Mental Health Act, introduced by Rep. Axne and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, would expand mental health care and support to veterans in rural and remote areas. Read the bill here

S. 957: The DUMP Opioids Act

Allows anyone – regardless of if they are a veteran – to dispose of unneeded prescription medication at VA medical centers.

S. 1910: The Major Medical Facility Authorization Act of 2021 

Authorizes VA to carry out certain major medical facility construction projects.

H.R 5575: The RAISE Act [Note: Enacted through a larger bill]

Raises the salary cap for VA nurses and physicians’ assistants (P.A.s).

H.R. 5754: The Patient Advocate Tracker Act

Creates an online portal where veteran patients can track the status of formal complaints they file through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding their medical provider.

S. 2533: The MAMMO Act

Requires VA to develop a strategic plan to improve breast imaging services, create a tele-mammography pilot program for veterans in areas where VA does not offer in-house mammography and expand veterans’ access to clinical trials through partnerships with the National Cancer Institute.

H.R. 2704: Improving VA Accountability to Prevent Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Act of 2021

The Improving VA Accountability to Prevent Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Act of 2021, introduced by Rep. Chris Pappas, would require stricter reporting of allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination at V.A. to create a more welcoming environment for veterans and employees. Read the bill here

H.R. 958: The Protecting Moms Who Served Act

The Protecting Moms Who Served Act, introduced by Rep. Lauren Underwood, would improve V.A. care for veteran mothers before, during, and after their pregnancy. Read the bill here

H.R. 293: The HELP Act

The HELP Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, would require VA to establish qualification standards and performance metrics for HR professionals working in the Veterans Health Administration. Click here for more information. Read the bill here.

H.R. 290: The GI Bill Transferability Protection Act of 2021 

The GI Bill Transferability Protection Act of 2021, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, this bill would ensure that the servicemember, not their spouse or dependent, is responsible for repaying GI Bill expenses incurred as a result of the servicemember’s failure to fulfill their service obligation. It would also clarify that the servicemember is only liable for expenses incurred due to their failure to complete their service obligation. Click here for more information. Read the bill here.

H.R. 239: Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act

The Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act, introduced by Rep. Julia Brownley, would eliminate pay copays for birth control at V.A to ensure women veterans do not pay more at V.A. than they would while on active-duty, or through private sector healthcare. Read the bill here

H.R. 4626: The VA Assessment by Independent Measure (AIM) Act

The VA Assessment by Independent Measure (AIM) Act, introduced by Rep. Jack Bergman, would require VA to repeat the Independent Assessment every decade, beginning in 2025. It would adopt the Independent Assessment framework in the Choice Act and expand it to include VA’s training, research, and emergency response missions. Click here for more information. H.R. 1217: The Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act

The Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, would prohibit VA from sending information on veterans (or beneficiaries) who are assisted by a fiduciary to NICS without a judicial ruling that they are a danger to themselves, or others. This would ensure that veterans are afforded the same due process that every other American receives before any action is taken that would deprive them of one of the constitutional rights. H.R. 1216: The Modernizing Veterans' Healthcare Eligibility Act

The Modernizing Veterans' Healthcare Eligibility Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, would create a bipartisan commission to assess veterans’ eligibility for care within VA and make recommendations for how such eligibility could be revised and simplified. H.R. 292: The VA Health Center Management and Stability Act

The VA Health Center Management and Stability Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, would require VA to develop and implement a plan to hire directors at VA medical centers that lack permanent leadership and to prioritize hiring at those facilities that have lacked such leadership the longest. As part of that plan, VA would be required to identify any impediments to hiring medical center directors that exist as well as opportunities to train and promote internal candidates to leadership positions. Click here for more information. H.R. 291: The COST Savings Act

The COST Savings Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Bost, would require VA to develop a uniform medical waste cost analysis model to determine the cost savings associated with the use of an on-site medical waste treatment system and identify facilities that would benefit from the cost savings associated with the use of an on-site medical waste treatment system over a five year period. Click here for more information.
