Roe Statement on Robert Wilkie’s Confirmation

Washington, D.C. – Today, Chairman Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Robert Wilkie as Secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):

“I congratulate incoming Secretary Wilkie on his confirmation. Secretary Wilkie showed great leadership while serving as the acting secretary, and I have enjoyed working with him. He was instrumental in moving the VA MISSION Act through Congress, and I know he will be the strong leader the department needs during implementation. We still have much work ahead of us as we strive to ensure our nation’s veterans receive the benefits and care they deserve, and I know we will work together to continue to deliver on the promises this country has made to the men and women who served.

“As the Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I am committed to transforming VA to better serve the men and women who sacrificed so much for our great nation, and I am confident Secretary Wilkie is as well. Icommend President Trump on his excellent selection of our next VA Secretary and thank my Senate colleagues for a swift, bipartisan confirmation process.”
