Chairman Roe, Ranking Member Walz Announce First-Ever HVAC Member Day

Today, Reps. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) and Tim Walz (D-Minn.), Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, respectively, announced the committee’s first-ever bipartisan member day to give members of Congress the opportunity to testify before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs about veterans issues in their districts.

“Since I’ve served as Chairman, I’ve traveled around the country to conduct oversight at VA facilities and hear directly from veterans, providers and other VA employees about the issues they face every day," said Roe. "These oversight trips have provided me with valuable perspective that has informed and influenced the policies we are pursuing in Congress. Still, I realize there are many stories yet to be shared, which is why I’m excited to host the committee’s first-ever Member Day along with Ranking Member Walz to ensure the voices of veterans in every district are heard as we continue our work to bring wholesale reform to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.”

“Serving as Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs has been one of greatest honors of my life, not just because I am a proud 24 year veteran of the Army National Guard, but because serving on this committee has given me the rare opportunity to hear from veterans across the country directly," said Walz. "When it comes to veterans affairs, it’s the stories and experiences of veterans that should drive and inform everything we do here in Washington. That is why I am proud to join my friend and colleague, Chairman Phil Roe, in hosting this bipartisan Member Day, which will give representatives on both sides of the aisle the chance to share the perspectives of veterans in their district with us and in turn inform the work we do here on the VA committee.”
