Joint Hearing of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs of the U.S. Senate and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
Opening Statement of Hon. Jeff Miller, a Representative in Congress from the State of Florida (Statement for the Record)
Thank you Mr. Chairman.
It is a privilege to welcome all the members of the American Legion that have traveled from all over the country to attend today’s Legislative Presentation.
With so many of our service men and women deployed overseas in support of the global war on terrorism, we are very fortunate to have such a network of veterans service organizations, including the American Legion, to whom our veterans and their families can count on for guidance and support.
I am particularly pleased to recognize and welcome from the State of Florida including: Mr. Harry F. McDowell; Mr. Robert Proctor;
Mr. Ron Musselwhite; Mr. Robert Schmidt; Mr. H. Warren Post; Mr. Gerald Clark; Mr. Timothy McCarthy; and Mr. Stanley Gold.
I would also like to congratulate Marty Conaster on becoming the new National Commander. Welcome to Washington, and thank you for your continued service to our country and our veterans. I look forward to your testimony.
I hope that we are able to work together to improve access and services for veterans across the country. I look forward to today’s presentation from the American Legion.
Thank you Mr. Chairman, I yield back the balance of my time.
