SUBCOMMITTEE ON BENEFITS LEGISLATIVE HEARING

On Wednesday, June 11, 2003, the Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Benefits, chaired by Congressman Henry Brown of South Carolina, held a hearing to consider legislation pending before the Subcommittee. 	Former Benefits Subcommittee Chairman Mike Simpson (ID) testifies in support of his legislation (H.R. 2285) to require the Department of Labor to establish Transition Assistance Programs at overseas military installations.

	Congressman Jim Gerlach (PA) asks the Subcommittee to support his legislation (H.R. 1516) to direct VA to open a new national cemetery in southeastern Pennsylvania.

	Congresswoman Heather Wilson (NM), a veteran herself, explains why her legislation (H.R. 1167) to allow a remarried surviving spouse of a veteran to be eligible for burial in a VA national cemetery is necessary.
