Rep. Tom Udall (D-NM) questions a witness from the General Accounting Office (GAO) about Y2K readiness.

Testifying on behalf of the GAO were Joel C. Willemssen, Director, Civil Agencies Information Systems, Accounting and Information Management Division; and Helen Lew, Assistant Director.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was represented by William K. Hubbard, center, Senior Associate Commissioner for Policy, Planning and Legislation; and Thomas B. Shope, right, Special Assistant to the Director, Office of Science and Technology, Center for Devices and Radiological Health.  Behind them is a chart on Y2K compliance they used in their presentation.
Hershel W. Gober, the VA's Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs, fourth from the left, led the final panel before the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.   To his right is Harold F. Gracey Jr., the VA's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Technology.   The VA panel heard both words of praise for their progress in Y2K compliance and encouragement to prepare for unexpected problems.
