U.S. House of Representatives
Committee on Veterans' Affairs
Subcommittee on Oversight and
Investigations
Honorable Terry Everett, Chairman
HEARING ON PATIENT SAFETY
AND
QULAITY MANGEMENT IN THE
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS
July 27, 2000
Chairman’s Hearing Statement
The hearing will come to order.
I apologize for the delay in beginning the hearing.
We have had a series of votes on the floor of the House and more votes
are now likely.
I appreciate everyone’s patience and forbearance
this morning. I also appreciate all the preparation by the witnesses
for this hearing on patient safety and quality management in the
Department of Veterans Affairs.
It is apparent that the Subcommittee will not be
able to take oral testimony in a timely way today. Therefore, I am
ordering that all written testimony submitted by our invited witnesses
be placed in the record, that members may place statements in the
record, and that members may have five days to submit questions for
the record.
I want to assure the witnesses that the product of
your work in preparing for this hearing will become part of the
official record and that your effort was worthwhile.
I apologize if anyone has been greatly
inconvenienced, and I thank you all for coming.
The hearing is adjourned.
